The Bioscird Journal Club Reviews and Reports (BJCRR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial integrity, confidentiality, and ethical governance. Editors play a central role in ensuring the quality, fairness, and credibility of the scholarly publication process. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted technologies by editors must strictly comply with the guidelines outlined below.

1. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All manuscripts and editorial materials are strictly confidential. Editors must not upload, share, or process any manuscript content—including text, figures, tables, reviewer reports, or correspondence—into any AI system or external platform.

Such actions may compromise author privacy, intellectual property rights, and data security standards.

This confidentiality requirement extends to all editorial communications, including decision letters, reviewer invitations, reviewer reports, and internal discussions. Editors must ensure that no confidential information is exposed to unauthorized systems or tools.

2. AI in Editorial Decision-Making

Editorial decisions must be based on independent human judgment, academic expertise, and critical evaluation of scholarly work.

AI tools must not be used to assess, interpret, or determine the scientific quality, originality, or suitability of submitted manuscripts.

Editors remain fully responsible for all decisions, including reviewer selection, manuscript evaluation, revision handling, and final acceptance or rejection outcomes.

3. AI Disclosure and Ethical Oversight

Where applicable, authors must disclose any use of AI tools in manuscript preparation. Editors are responsible for reviewing and verifying such disclosures during the editorial workflow.

Any suspected non-disclosure, misuse of AI, or ethical concerns related to AI usage must be reported to the Editor-in-Chief or publisher for formal investigation in accordance with journal policies.

4. AI in Editorial Operations

The journal may use AI-assisted tools to support administrative and technical editorial tasks such as plagiarism screening, metadata validation, and reviewer assignment.

These systems operate under strict confidentiality and data protection protocols and are used only as supportive tools.

AI technologies do not replace editorial oversight or human decision-making at any stage of the publication process.

5. Responsibility and Ethical Accountability

Editors are fully responsible for ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and ethical integrity throughout the editorial workflow.

Any misuse of AI tools that compromises confidentiality, objectivity, or editorial standards may result in corrective actions, including reassignment or removal from editorial duties.

BJCRR encourages the responsible and transparent use of AI technologies only when they enhance efficiency without compromising human judgment or ethical standards.
