The Bioscird Journal Club Reviews and Reports (BJCRR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing practices. The journal follows a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and related forms of academic misconduct.

All submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work, properly acknowledge all referenced sources, and comply with recognized ethical publishing standards.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to the unauthorized use or presentation of another person’s work, ideas, or intellectual property without appropriate acknowledgment.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

Copying text, tables, figures, images, or data without proper citation.
Paraphrasing another author’s work without giving appropriate credit.
Self-plagiarism or reuse of previously published material without citation or justification.
Presenting another individual’s ideas, findings, or research as original work.
Submitting work prepared by another person under one’s own authorship.

2. Plagiarism Screening Process

All manuscripts submitted to BJCRR undergo plagiarism screening using recognized similarity detection tools such as:

Turnitin
iThenticate

The acceptable similarity index for submitted manuscripts is generally below 19% (excluding references, quotations, and standard methodological statements).

Manuscripts exceeding the acceptable threshold may be returned for revision or rejected depending on the extent and nature of the detected overlap.

3. Editorial Actions in Cases of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or unethical overlap is identified at any stage of the publication process, including submission, peer review, or post-publication, the journal may take appropriate editorial action.

Possible actions include:

Immediate rejection of the manuscript
Requesting revision in cases of minor or unintentional overlap
Retraction of published articles where plagiarism is confirmed
Notification to the author’s affiliated institution or funding body
Temporary or permanent restriction on future submissions

4. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality and authenticity of their submitted work.

All referenced materials must be properly cited according to the journal’s referencing style.
Authors must ensure that submitted content does not violate copyright or intellectual property rights.
By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is free from plagiarism and complies with ethical research standards.

5. Self-Plagiarism and Duplicate Submission

BJCRR discourages all forms of self-plagiarism and redundant publication practices.

Authors should avoid:

Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without proper citation.
Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals.
Publishing duplicate or minimally modified versions of the same research.

Where overlap with previous publications is necessary, such overlap must be properly cited, transparent, and scientifically justified.

6. Ethical Compliance

This plagiarism policy is aligned with internationally recognized publication ethics standards, including the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

BJCRR takes all allegations of plagiarism and academic misconduct seriously and ensures that investigations are conducted fairly, transparently, and confidentially.
